MacPhail Residence

Healdsburg, CA - Completed 2003

This project was an extensive remodel of an 1,800 square foot ranch style home for a winemaker and his family. The house sits on one acre of land just outside of the town of Healdsburg. The main design challenge was to open up the floor plan to create more space and light in the house. The solution was to relocate the kitchen to an area of the house that creates a connection with the living spaces, takes advantage of pastoral views and improves access to the back yard. The new layout makes the house more suitable for entertaining and for hosting catered wine related events. Natural wood, plaster walls and bright colors accent the kitchen and bathrooms, and exposed rafters in the living room make the space light and expansive.

In 2008 a small production winery was added to the property. Refer to the MacPhail family commercial project for additional information.
